What Is Baptism?
At Eben-Ezer Haitian Baptist Church, we regard baptism as a crucial practice established by Jesus for the church. This sacrament serves two primary purposes: it marks a person's entry into the church community and is a public declaration of their faith and commitment to Jesus Christ as the head of the church. In baptism, believers symbolically align themselves with Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, as described in Romans 6:3-4, showcasing their obedience to Christ's command to publicly profess their faith.
While we believe that baptism isn't essential for salvation, it represents an important act of obedience for believers. Jesus' mandate for baptism is clearly stated in the Great Commission, where He instructs the church to baptize disciples in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to teach them to obey His teachings (Matthew 28:19-20).
But remember, baptism isn't about magically changing you. It's more about you publicly showing that you've started a new life with God's help (as explained in Colossians 2:12). Although parents who are believers may choose to publicly dedicate their infant children to the Lord, we believe that people should not be baptized until they can personally articulate their faith and the purpose of baptism.
If you haven't been baptized yet and want to, or if you just have questions about it, feel free to drop by our Member Center after the Sunday service or get in touch with our Leadership Team. We'd love to help you with this important step in your faith journey!
Service Opportunities
At Eben-Ezer Haitian Baptist Church, our mission is to foster a culture of active service among our congregation. We believe that God uniquely equips each believer to contribute to the church's growth and vitality. As Ephesians 4:11–13 teaches, we are each prepared for service to help build up the body of Christ. Similarly, 1 Peter 4:10 encourages us to use our individual gifts to serve others, acting as stewards of God's diverse grace.
Our church offers a variety of service opportunities, reflecting our commitment to engage every member in meaningful roles. These include:
-
Welcoming visitors,
-
Participating in the worship and music ministries,
-

We encourage all members, especially newcomers, to find their place in these ministries. They are eager to guide you to a service area that aligns with your gifts and interests, further enriching our church family.
Together, let's commit to using our talents and time to serve each other and grow in unity, supported by the Holy Spirit, in our vibrant church community.
